HI EVERYBODY,

Here at Motor Sounds Towers we’re celebrating the imminent wave of common sense which is due to engulf our lovely planet like a cosmic orgasm some time between 6:48 and 7:00PM this evening. 

We’ve come to this conclusion using state of the art scientific guess work and theoretical jiggerypokery, as it turns out that everything is so fucked up, much like the new iPhone updates, we too have to reset.  The afore mentioned time is the most suitable as everyone will have just had their dinner and in a state of soporific early evening calm will be most susceptible to the common sense hammer that will arrive in the form of a pure and brilliant thought of love from the heart of the universe.  All wars will come to an immediate end as enimies realise the futility of hate.  

Mankind will stop paying money to banks as we concede that its the people that make a home, not bricks and mortar, forcing humanity as one to come up with a more benign financial system which doesn’t allow one man to profit from anothers pain, which will in turn give us all more time to hug it out.  

All the worlds religions will join as one and admit that it is not the face of God which is important but the message, they will abandon petty dogma and tradition and will embrace each and every person on earth as a precious and beautiful masterpiece who needs to be cherished, creating a physical and spiritual link between all the tribes and clans of earth.  

We will develop an alternative gentle means of transportation and repair the damage we have done to our big blue marble as we realise that we share this world with other creatures and we don’t own it but we are by virtue of our gifts its custodians.  I can’t wait.  

We can also report that we’ve got some new releases coming very soon…….Oh and if you know of anyone who may deserve a slap nows the time to get it done, from tomorrow night you won’t want to. 

A year and one half ago, we happened to be at a gig of the Rock and indeed the Roll in olde Dublin towne……sorry I went all middle ages there, no idea why.  Anyhoo, we first met the Mighty Atomics at a gig in a basement bar in Dublin, 3 fresh faced young pups with 6 ears for a tune and natty line in suits, fantastic.  For any of us that were there they its no exageration to say they striped the paint off the walls.  Well, on down the line and they’ve managed to get the genie in the bottle and have produced a stunning…..stunning debut album with more than a few high points all of which we’re delighted to be able to bring to to you on Motor Sounds Records.

A little bit Garage, a little bit Punk, a little bit Surf with more than a hint of hamburg era Beatles and all served in a none more black digipack. 

My own personal favs on the album are “Lobotomise Me, Baby!” which just pulls up memories of early garage punk ala’ The Modern Lovers with the echos of an unloved Dublin teen howling at the moon.  Another favorite, “Leave Me Alone”. Remember when RnB was good, before autotune made everyone sound like a robot, when men used to sing about how much they loved a woman and not “if you don’t love ME like a God your mad, oh and did you see my jewelry” and “I can’t support my kid but look at my car”.  Leave Me Alone is one such tune, imagine if The Pretty Things had gone to hang out with the fledgling New York punk scene, 80% r’n’b 20% punk makes for a very infectious mix.  Other stand outs for me are “The Continuing Story Of Evo Morales” pure Moricone lushness, if the garage punk scene don’t want the Mighty Atomics I’m sure the theme tune scene will have ‘em. “Just a Man” Ramones-y and brilliant.  

The Mighty Atomics regularly call upon the unholy spirits of their heros, and he who says he don’t is a liar, they do it with zero respect, complete abandon and they don’t say “Thanks Daddio” which is exactly the point.  Too much hat tipping can kill a record, no hat tipping is the way to go here.  They hint at it and move on.  This album should be number 1 in the Irish Album Charts at some point next year if there is any justice, which as we all know..there isn’t.  It should be at the business end of all those album charts of the year you see in stupid magazines the music industry uses as a crutch and good taste arbiters instead of using their ears, why the hell else did God give a brother ears if not to listen to the Mighty Atomics.

Ganesha.  Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha’s elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles.  Very handy that.  Can I get a hand for Ganesha not that he needs ‘em he’s got four already.

…but we’ll leave it for now.  In the coming weeks and months we got releases by The Acid Fascists and Ghosts of Progress but more of that closer to the time.
